F.A.Q.

Question: How do you read guitar chord charts?

Answer- I'm glad you asked! Learning how to read guitar chord charts is pretty simple... and you'll be surprised how quickly you understand those charts.

Lets look at an example:

how do you read guitar chord charts?
Here's a C major guitar chord diagram.

I want you to notice the Numbers on the diagram. These numbers represent your fingers.

Number 1 = Index Finger

Number 2 = Middle Finger

Number 3 = Ring Finger

Number 4 = Smallest Finger

'0'  = Open String

The vertical lines on the diagram represent your guitar strings, and the horizontal lines represent each fret (metal insert on the neck).

The 'strings' or vertical lines from left to right are the same as your guitar strings from thickest to thinnest.

Simply look at the chart, and place your fingers into the proper positions.

Each new chord that you try will take some practice. Just place one of your fingers at a time, don't rush yourself.
