Practice Tips:
1. Start with Fingerings- Take your time getting each
finger into the proper position for a new chord. Press Firmly,
and then release your hand. Repeat the process until your
fingers move to position almost 'automatically'
2. Pluck each string individually- Instead of strumming the entire
chord, play each string on it's own. This will allow you to hear
exactly where any mistakes might be. You could be pressing too lightly
on a certain string, or accidentally muting one of your strings by
touching it with a 'wrong' finger.
3. Experiment with Strumming Patterns- When you first learn a simple
guitar chord chart, Do you struggle with strumming? Click Here...
This might actually be the most important page you'll ever read.
Basically, Chris from Elmore Music put together an amazing strumming
course... he'll show you all kinds of cool techniques. His site covers
palm-muting, and a very cool percussive slap technique!
I learned a ton of great things from Chris's strumming course. It's
just one of the many great sites out there...
